There are a total of eight OP Levels, and each OP increases the level of the enemies you face - at OP8 for instance, level 80 enemies start appearing. Instead of making you fight an enemy with quite literally, over one billion hitpoints, you are placed in a gauntlet with multiple arenas, each with different waves of enemies to face. It seems that Gearbox has been listening to my friend’s complaints, and finally figured out a way to truly push the practical, high-end limit of Borderlands 2’s combat. Yes, you could tackle the raid bosses, and farm for Seraph vendor loot, but after obtaining your desired max-level equipment, there was nothing else for you to test your new weapons on - except to kill the same boring raid bosses all over again. “The game has become an endless black hole of diminishing returns,” he said, referring to the lack of content after you had reached max level. One of my gaming buddies, who has been my co-op partner since the game was released last year, decided to go cold turkey and stop playing Borderlands 2 once he reached level 61. I should have advanced slowly, carefully kiting enemies one by one, instead of charging in like a fool and being overconfident that my Storm Front and Rubi would keep me alive no matter what sort of damage I take. I became greedy and equipped The Bee shield in order to boost my damage, when a more tanky shield such as the Antagonist or Flame of the Firehawk would have greatly increased my Mechromancer’s survivability (and that of my Deathtrap too). But the truth is, I was too reckless with my strategy. ![]() I wanted to blame the unfair enemy combinations in Digistruct Peak, like how mechanical Surveyors are not supposed to be able to heal biological Spiderants and Rabid Skags. ![]() I had died once again, so close to the finish line, and was forced to respawn and restart the entire gauntlet from scratch. I rammed my fist so hard on my computer desk, the entire table shook and the deafening thud could be heard all throughout the house, scaring my sister and parents. ![]() ![]() The spectrum of processing partners could be pretty broad, Zegers said, including value-added resellers such as retailers or other companies working on the distribution side of things e-scrap and ITAD firms, particularly those in regions where Ingram doesn’t anticipate starting up its own facilities and contract manufacturers who might have a small ITAD presence or reverse logistics system.New Relationships with Carahsoft, Exclusive Networks, and Ingram Micro Fuels Hypergrowth Across North America Beyond simply utilizing Ingram’s software and market access, companies can also become approved to send or receive overflow devices to and from nearby Ingram Micro facilities. That selling fee is calculated to be less than the sum Ingram determines the vendor will gain from selling the device through the Ingram marketplace versus selling it independently. The partner company uses Ingram Micro’s software and pays a fee for every device that moves through the system, as well as a marketplace fee for the devices that are being sold. The customers prefer that option, as it consolidates service into a single vendor. ![]() The program has seen positive early results – clients of those companies, when offered the option to have the same vendor handle ITAD services, have chosen to do so, Zegers said. It might take away from Ingram getting the ITAD business direct, Zegers acknowledged, but the company doesn’t have to add fixed costs to offer those services.Ĭleveland-headquartered IT logistics firm MCPc was the first partner company to roll out the new service, doing so in March, and a second company in Spain has since introduced it. “Now, we can give our partners a system where they can continue to manage their customers, charge their customers whatever fee they want, but use our systems for both processing as well as reselling the goods … and now they are able to compete with any other ITAD out there in this space, but they already own the customer.” “What we’re really creating is kind of an end-to-end ITAD platform,” Zegers said. They are then remarketed by that partner company through Ingram’s platform, which has a large customer base. Under the new model, Ingram Micro will come in and install its proprietary BlueIQ software program, ensuring partner companies process retired assets to Ingram’s standards. Ingram saw an opportunity, which fit with its trend toward leveraging existing business infrastructure to increase its services – Zegers noted than 80% of the company’s growth is coming from its value-added reseller partners, compared with its direct business. But many of them didn’t provide ITAD services, sending end-of-life devices to other firms instead. Those companies are already selling, installing and servicing the hardware for clients. “We quickly realized that for us to gain scale at pace, we really needed to leverage the (value-added reseller) community and their existing relationships with customers,” Zegers said. That was the core business model of CloudBlue. Traditionally, the company has been a direct-to-enterprise organization, Zegers explained, with a team of salespeople marketing the company’s ITAD services to corporate customers. “We know that, in the ITAD space, if you want to really gain market share you’ve got to have a true global presence when you want to play in the enterprise space, because every big customer has facilities around the world,” Zegers said. The company works with 200,000 resellers worldwide, and Zegers said the move will grow the company’s ITAD reach internationally. Now, the company is expanding ITAD services in a different way, by sharing its capabilities with value-added resellers. “You think about the number of units Ingram Micro distributes forward, if you started sizing up what your market size is for the ITAD business or reverse logistics business within Ingram Micro, it’s pretty significant,” Zegers said in an interview. Ingram’s interest in the ITAD sector was natural, given the volume of product the company handles, explained Todd Zegers, vice president of ITAD, commerce and lifecycle services at Ingram Micro. Last year, the company estimated that it processed more than 26,000 short tons of devices. Since then, the company has quickly expanded its ITAD presence in U.S. The company moved into the ITAD sector with its 2013 acquisition of reverse logistics firm CloudBlue. It buys devices from OEMs and provides them to its “value-added reseller” clients, who sell them to the end users. Ingram Micro, an international company with roughly $50 billion in annual revenue, works primarily in the hardware distribution business. Now, it is rolling out a program to grow by leveraging its subcontractor companies. Technology distributor Ingram Micro has established itself in asset disposition in recent years. “Obama didn’t get it, because he grew up in Hawaii, where everybody has to get along. Pelosi, Schroeder told me, was not one of the in-denial Democrats: “She got it right away,” Schroeder said. Obviously, that was, unfortunately, true.” “I thought, these people don’t understand what’s really happening. “Most of the Democrats were like, ‘Nah, this is just a fluke, we’ll be back, everyone loves us,’” said Schroeder, who left Congress shortly thereafter, declining to run for re-election in 1996. But many of Schroeder’s colleagues were in denial at the time. Gingrich’s 1994 Republican revolution ended the congressional majority Democrats had enjoyed for decades and permanently changed the tenor of the institution. After it led to a first-ever congressional reprimand of a House Speaker, Gingrich said he regretted not having taken her seriously. As her Associated Press obituary recounts, an ethics complaint Schroeder and others filed against then-Speaker Newt Gingrich was initially decried as a silly partisan ploy. Men sometimes dismissed Schroeder at their peril. I don’t know-they didn’t invite us.” She was often accused of having been elected to Congress under false pretenses by voters who thought “Pat Schroeder” was a man’s name. “A lot of lobbyists on the Hill would invite the guys over for drinks,” Schroeder said. “There were just no women at all.” When congressmen socialized with women, it was not, shall we say, as peers. “There were no women pages, no women police officers, no women parliamentarians, no women doorkeepers,” she told me. It wasn’t just the lack of women lawmakers that made Congress in those days feel like “an overaged frat house,” as Schroeder once termed it. Usually we were asked to go get coffee or something.” (Pelosi, in a statement Tuesday, said, “It was my great personal privilege to serve with Congresswoman Schroeder, whom many of us consider one of the bravest women to ever serve in the halls of Congress.”) “She came and met with all the congresswomen, and wanted to know what we thought should happen at the convention,” Schroeder recalled. Then a housewife and political volunteer, Pelosi played a key role in bringing the 1984 Democratic convention to San Francisco. Schroeder told me she was a big fan of Pelosi, whom she met in 1984, three years before Pelosi ran for Congress. She once told the Pentagon officials testifying before her in a committee hearing that if they were women they’d always be pregnant, because they never said no. In Congress, Schroeder was famed for her barbed tongue and pungent wit. When I was growing up outside Denver, Schroeder, who represented the city in the House for 24 years, was liberals’ great champion in an otherwise red state. Talking with her was one of the highlights of my research. Schroeder, who died Monday at 82, told me this story when I interviewed her, nearly four years ago, for my 2020 biography of Nancy Pelosi. “We said, ‘I understand about your word, but we’re not in the gym.’” “This did not please us,” Schroeder told me dryly. In the Senate gym, where women had only recently been allowed, Biden had promised a fellow senator, Republican Jack Danforth of Missouri, that he would not hold hearings on the allegations. “Biden said to us, ‘You don’t understand-the only thing you have around here is your word, and I gave my word that this wouldn’t happen,’” she recalled. When they confronted Biden, he was none too pleased with their presumptuousness, Schroeder told me. They marched over to the other side of the Capitol to demand the Senate hear from Anita Hill, one of Thomas’s accusers. And so one day Schroeder and a few of her female colleagues in the House decided to do something about it. They were fast-tracking Thomas’s nomination and didn’t even plan to hear testimony on allegations Thomas had sexually harassed underlings. Joe Biden of Delaware, didn’t seem to share Schroeder’s alarm. “He was totally arrogant, telling us how equal rights was the silliest thing he’d ever heard-even though he was head of the EEOC!” Schroeder recalled when I spoke with her, in 2019.īut the Democrats on the all-male Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired at the time by Sen. In testimony before the Post Office and Civil Service subcommittee that Schroeder co-chaired, Thomas had seemed dismissive of the agency’s very mission. Schroeder, a liberal Democrat from Colorado, knew Thomas from his prior work as chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. When Clarence Thomas was nominated to the Supreme Court in 1991, Congresswoman Pat Schroeder was immediately alarmed. No doubt the fact that there are no depictions that are unequivocally of Agriainians, and no detailed desciptions in the sources either ( at least, that I know of! The question is, when placed in firmly in the middle of the fighting - as they are - they then become useless once their javelins are throw. Such humongous music is a vessel for even bigger ideas, as you’ll see when you read my conversation with Little below. It’s driven by relentless pounding, a snaky guitar line, and Saintseneca’s signature howling harmonies. O’Conke’s presence is definitely felt on “River,” the second Such Things track to be revealed. But Saintseneca managed to churn out Such Things little more than a year after Dark Arc, and they’ll head out on tour to promote it this October - in rock clubs, with drummer Matt O’Conke (also of Tin Armor) now a full-fledged member. On top of all that metamorphosis, two members of Saintseneca’s latest incarnation front rising rock bands of their own, Maryn Jones (All Dogs) and Steve Ciolek (the Sidekicks), which makes logistics increasingly tricky. (I saw them play under a bridge by the Olentangy River once it was rad.) The band’s situation has changed a lot since then: complete lineup turnover, countless DIY tours, and, as of last year’s sophomore LP Dark Arc, a record deal with storied punk label Epitaph’s adventurous ANTI- subsidiary. Back in those days the folk-punk group’s percussion largely consisted of foot stomps and pounding on a plastic trash can, and they performed mostly in basements, living rooms, and other informal locations. This looking back or remembering appears in the lead single from Pillar of Na, “Frostbiter,” which brings up an assortment of memories, including the death of a grandfather and a childhood friendship. The name references the Biblical story of Lot whose wife looks back at the burning city of Sodom and turns into a pillar of salt (the chemical symbol for sodium is Na) for her disobedience to God.
